  • No! As ultrasound is a non-ionising radiation examination (ie it uses soundwaves instead of radiation like conventional x-ray and CT scanning) self-referral is both accepted and safe. You can get in contact and arrange an appointment for yourself via our our website www.ultrasoundscanclinic.com clinic phone number 07935368677 or alternatively through our social media networks.

  • Expect to be greeted by friendly and positive staff who will welcome you to our clinic and invite you to check in at our reception. We will ask you to confirm some short (but necessary details) and ask for settlement of your outstanding balance. Once completed we will ask you to take a seat in our comfortable and spacious waiting area. Once the Sonographer is ready for you, you will be invited into our scanning room for whatever examination you have booked.

  • Once the Sonographer has welcomed you and introduced themselves, they will begin the ultrasound examination with your consent. This will require putting some water-based ultrasound gel over whatever area you are having scanned. This gel helps make a seal between the ultrasound transducer and point of contact. This is necessary to allow sound waves to penetrate through the skin and towards the region of interest to produce a digital image on screen. There will be a large screen available in front of you for your ease of viewing and comfort, demonstrating whatever scan it is you are having done. During the examination the Sonographer will explain what they are examining and will be able to demonstrate this on the large screen.

  • Yes! You will receive a report for whatever examination you have had undertaken. If this is a pregnancy scan, you will have a well being report with any additional necessary information included. For an abdominal, renal or testicular ultrasound scan the report will include the anatomical regions examined and the associated findings. This report can be sent digitally or printed if required.

  • Yes! For all pregnancy ultrasound scans you will receive photos for your keeping. The number of such will depend on what scan you have booked, however all images (and video clips) taken during the ultrasound scan will be electronically transferred to you straight away after the scan. For abdominal, renal and testicular ultrasound scans, specific anatomical images can be printed if required.

  • Yes! You can bring up to three guests to accompany you for particular scans (So four people in total – including yourself). Please see specific booking details for advice and guidance on this.

  • Yes! As long as the total number of accompanying guests is still three or less. Due to the nature of certain ultrasound scans that we provide, it is advised that children are not brought along to such. Please see specific booking details for advice and guidance on this.

  • The answer to this depends on what specific pregnancy scan you are having. Any pregnancy ultrasound scan being undertaken on a fetus estimated to be less than 14 weeks gestational age, we strongly recommend a full (or as full as reasonably possible) bladder for these examinations. The reason for this is because of the position of your uterus in relation to the bladder and natural bowel gas. A full bladder helps to move bowel gas and visualise the uterus and region of interest much better than when compared to an empty bladder. For any pregnancy related scan of a fetus estimated to be greater than 14weeks a full bladder is not necessary. The reason for this again is in relation to the position of the uterus against the bladder and bowel gas. After fourteen weeks the uterus begins to extend superiorly and visualisation is then less affected by a full bladder or natural bowel gas.

  • Yes! It is in very close proximity to both the scanning and reception room.
